Privacy policy

Effective from: 19 October 2026

This is a translation of the Polish original. If the versions differ, the Polish version prevails.

This policy explains how we handle data in the Sobtivo: Quit Smoking app (Android, Google Play) and other Sobtivo apps, and on the sobtivo.com website.

In short

  • Everything you enter in the app — your quit date, spending, journal, mood — stays on your phone. You don't create an account and we have no access to this data.
  • The free version shows Google AdMob ads. Google collects data for this, including your device's advertising ID and IP address. You only see personalised ads if you agree to them.
  • A Premium subscription removes the ads. Payments are handled by Google Play.
  • We don't sell your data.

1. Data controller

The data controller is Krystian Sobolewski, creator of the Sobtivo apps and brand (“we”). For any privacy matter, email [email protected].

2. Data you enter in the app

To calculate your progress and guide you through the programme, the app uses information you enter yourself:

  • your quit date and time, cigarettes per day and per pack, pack price and currency,
  • journal entries: notes, mood and recorded moments of nicotine craving,
  • app settings, including reminders, and your progress in the programme.

This data is stored only on your device. We don't send it to any server, we have no access to it and we don't pass it to advertisers. The app doesn't require an account.

Information about smoking, mood or wellbeing may relate to your health. Because it stays on your device and never reaches us, we do not process it as a controller.

Android backup. If Google backup is turned on for your phone, Android may save app data to your private backup in your Google account so it can be restored, for example on a new phone. Google provides this feature based on your settings; we have no access to that backup. You can turn it off in your phone settings.

3. Reminders

The app can send reminders and motivational notifications. They are created on your device, without our server. You can withdraw notification permission at any time in your phone settings.

4. Narration

You can listen to the programme content read by a narrator. The recordings were prepared in advance (the voice is generated by artificial intelligence). Playing them doesn't require sending any of your data. If a recording is downloaded from the internet, the server it comes from receives only the technical data needed to deliver the file, such as your IP address.

5. Ads (Google AdMob)

In the free version, the app shows ads provided by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). For this, the app includes Google's advertising library (Google Mobile Ads SDK), which automatically collects and sends to Google:

  • IP address — may be used to estimate the device's approximate location (e.g. country or city),
  • device identifiers — the Android advertising ID and the app set ID,
  • interaction information — e.g. app launches, ad views and taps,
  • diagnostic information — e.g. launch time and performance of the app and the ad library.

Google uses this data to show ads and measure their performance, for analytics and to prevent fraud and abuse. The data is encrypted in transit. For this data, Google acts as an independent controller.

Your entries in the app — journal, mood, smoking data — are not passed to Google and are not used to select ads.

Your consent and how to change it

If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the app will ask for your choice in a Google consent form (based on the IAB TCF standard) when you first open it. You can agree to personalised ads or not — in that case you may see non-personalised or limited ads. You can change your choice at any time in the app settings, under the ad privacy option. The consent form also lists Google's advertising partners.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your phone settings (usually Settings → Privacy → Ads; names may vary by manufacturer).

How Google uses information from partner apps: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Full details: Google Privacy Policy.

6. Premium subscription

The Premium subscription removes ads. You buy it through Google Play, and Google handles the entire payment — we never receive your card or other payment details. The app receives from Google Play only what it needs to turn on Premium: whether the subscription is active, which product was bought and a technical purchase token. This information is used on your device.

In the Google Play Console we see basic order information (e.g. order number, date, country and amount), which we need for accounting and handling complaints.

7. sobtivo.com and email

Hosting. The website runs on Cloudflare. With each visit, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and request time — this is needed to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.

Cookies. The website doesn't use analytics or advertising cookies. We only use:

  • sobtivo_lang — remembers the language you chose (valid for 1 year; set only if you change the language yourself),
  • sobtivo_preview — a technical cookie used only by the administrator to preview the site during development.

Cloudflare may also set technical cookies needed for bot protection.

Email. If you write to us, we process your email address and message to reply. Messages sent to [email protected] are forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to the Gmail (Google) mailbox we use.

9. Recipients

We don't sell data. Data may be shared only with:

  • Google (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC) — AdMob ads, the Google Play store and payments, Gmail,
  • Google's advertising partners listed in the consent form — only to the extent you agree to,
  • Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.) — website hosting, protection and email forwarding,
  • public authorities, where required by law.

10. Transfers outside the European Economic Area

Google and Cloudflare may process data in the United States and other countries. Both participate in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and use Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

11. How long we keep data

  • App data — on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
  • Advertising data — kept by Google under its own rules: policies.google.com/technologies/retention. We don't store it.
  • Order information — for the duration of the subscription and as long as required by law (e.g. tax and consumer complaint rules).
  • Email correspondence — up to 2 years after the matter is closed, unless needed longer to defend legal claims.
  • Cloudflare technical logs — for a short period set by Cloudflare.
  • Language cookie — 1 year.

12. Security

App data is kept in the app's private, sandboxed storage, protected by Android's security mechanisms. Communication with Google and the website uses encrypted connections only (HTTPS/TLS). Access to our mailbox and developer accounts is protected by a strong password and two-step verification.

13. Data deletion

  • App data: phone Settings → Apps → Sobtivo: Quit Smoking → Storage → Clear data — or uninstall the app.
  • Advertising ID: reset or delete it in your phone settings (Privacy → Ads).
  • Ad consent: change it in the app settings, under the ad privacy option.
  • Subscription: cancel in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription.
  • Data we hold (e.g. correspondence): email [email protected] — we'll delete it within 30 days, except information we must keep by law.

Step-by-step guide: Data deletion.

14. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, rectify it, erase it, restrict its processing and port it, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. You can withdraw consent at any time — this doesn't affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. To exercise your rights, email [email protected]. For advertising data you can also contact Google directly.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Polish supervisory authority, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, uodo.gov.pl), or with the data protection authority in your country of residence.

15. Children

Sobtivo apps are intended for adults. They are not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example when we add new features. The current version is always available at https://sobtivo.com/en/privacy-policy/, and the date at the top shows when it was last changed. We'll let you know about significant changes in the app.
